## H-1B Second Lottery Round: What It Means for You

USCIS has officially announced a second selection round for the H-1B cap lottery for FY2025. This is significant news for thousands of applicants who were not initially selected.

### Who Is Affected?

If you registered for the H-1B lottery and were **not selected** in the first round, your registration is still active and eligible for this second selection. You don't need to re-register or take any additional action at this point.

### Key Details

- **Second selections** are being drawn from the existing pool of registrations
- Employers and attorneys will be notified through their USCIS online accounts
- Selected petitioners will have **90 days** to file the full H-1B petition
- This round is happening because USCIS needs more petitions to meet the annual cap

### What Should You Do?

1. **Check your USCIS account regularly** for any status updates
2. **Keep your documents ready** — if selected, you'll need to move quickly
3. **Stay in communication with your employer** and immigration attorney
4. **Don't lose hope** — second rounds have become increasingly common in recent years

### Why Does This Happen?

USCIS initially selects more registrations than the cap allows, anticipating that not all selected registrants will file petitions. When the filing rate is lower than expected, they conduct additional rounds to fill the remaining slots.

This is actually a positive trend — it means more opportunities for H-1B hopefuls who didn't make it in the first round.

### Bottom Line

If you're waiting on H-1B results, keep your documents organized and be ready to act fast. The second lottery round is a real second chance.
